Short list for 2014 North American Car and Truck / Utility of the Year announced

bmw opps With the Auto Show in Detroit just a few months, the jurors for 2014 cars in North America and Truck / Utility of the Year (NACTOY) prices are shrinking their list of potential winners. "The list of 12 cars and 12 trucks and commercial vehicles will be narrowed to three in December and a winner will be named the International Auto Show in Detroit in January," reports the Detroit Free Press.

Autoblog wrote this short list of candidates NACTOY offers "a more focused look at what the independent jury and self-financing, non-profit 50 North American auto writers feel deserves further consideration." Winners 2013 cars and trucks in North / Utility of the Year America Cadillac ATS and Ram 1500, the automotive press considers a victory for Detroit Autre key maker automobile.

2014, General Motors has more high rewards vehicles than any other automaker. The redesigned Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Chevrolet Impala are all candidates for North American Car of the Year, while the Buick Encore, Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are named for North Truck / Utility America the year. Toyota follows with three competing vehicles, including the Lexus IS, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Tundra. BMW, Mazda and Kia each have two competing vehicles, including the BMW 4 Series, BMW X5, Kia Cadenza, Kia Sorento, Mazda3 and Mazda6.

MaxiVideo MV101 Other vehicles that made the short list for the North American Car of the Year award include the Infiniti Q50, Jaguar F-Type and Mercedes-Benz CLA-class, while the Acura MDX, Hyundai Santa Fe (three rows), Jeep Cherokee, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Nissan Rogue and Subaru Forester complete the list of finalists for North Truck / Utility of the Year America. No Ford vehicles are appointed for 2014. Edmunds writes, "Ford said contest organizers were informed Monday that the Transit Connect / Wagon will not be on sale in the U.S. until next year, eliminating discord."
